Contact your Educational Consultant! Andrew D. Althouse - received his engineering degree from the University of Michigan. As a leader in the field, he and his coauthor Carl Turnquist created one of the first training programs in refrigeration while at Cass Technical High School.

Andy, as he was known, created the first technical training course in refrigeration for industry. The instructional materials used in this first course became the foundation for the textbook Modern Electric and Gas Refrigeration , which was published in Carl H.

Althouse, developed one of the earliest training programs to provide instruction for mechanical refrigeration for the automotive industry and for railroad passenger cars. With industry support, Carl's program flourished as the demand for skilled technicians in this new field expanded. The Modern Electric and Gas Refrigeration book was revised every three to five years as new equipment was developed.

The title of the book was eventually changed to Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He also earned a master's degree in Secondary Education and a Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision.

Bracciano was employed as a teacher of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for twelve years. He taught Community Resources Workshops for Michigan State University and presented at conferences throughout the country. Bracciano - graduated from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, with a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bracciano - received a bachelor's degree in Education, a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and an education specialist degree in Administrative Leadership. Bracciano has worked in the field of education for over twenty-five years and has held positions as both university professor and administrator.

Currently, she is the Provost of Gulliver Schools. Bracciano specializes in development and implementation of innovative curriculums and has presented at local, state, and national conferences.

Compressors , Psychrometry and Applications of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning have been included and updated for students to conceptualise the subject in a complete manner. The chapters consist of various exercises, examples, and multiple illustrations that aid in understanding the subject better. The subject of refrigeration and airconditioning is one of great significance as public focus shifts to food processing and preservation technologies. This highlights the need for professionals well-versed in the basics of this technology. A Textbook Of Refrigeration And Air Conditioning elaborates on the basics of this subject by including discussions on topics like multiple evaporator and compressor systems, simple and compound vapour compression refrigeration systems, air refrigeration cycles and systems, psychrometry, vapour absorption refrigeration and compressor systems, comfort conditions, psychrometry, refrigerants and compressors, cooling load estimation, steam jet refrigeration system, evaporators, condensers, expansion devices, and food preservation including cryogenics, fans, and ducts. A Textbook Of Refrigeration And Air Conditioning also features practical applications of refrigeration and air conditioning, thereby helping to buttress the theoretical knowledge already gleaned.

Introduction and Basic Concepts of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, PDF

You will develop an understanding of the field of refrigeration, including the three main areas: comfort cooling or air conditioning; commercial refrigeration; and industrial refrigeration. The 12 chapters build your knowledge from an understanding of basic refrigeration principles to their application in real-world situations. After completing the course, you should know:. This is an excellent course for anyone who needs information on refrigeration equipment and systems. You will benefit from this course if you are:.

This process is accompanied by an increase in Entropy along with a drop in pressure due to which volume increases and a part of the liquid is vaporized, thus cooling the liquid. Real gases produce a substantial decrease in temperature under certain condition, which corresponds to a certain initial low temperature and high pressure of the gas. Cooling is produced of one junction of two dissimilar metals if a current is passed through them. The phenomenon is called the Peltier effect.

Industrial refrigeration can be defined as the equipment and accessories projected to remove heat from large-scale processes or materials , lowering the temperature to a desired value. Depending on different parameters like the production scale, temperature difference, accuracy or expected temperature, there are multiple methods used to apply industrial refrigeration. Industrial refrigeration has been of paramount importance since the early years of the twentieth century. Historically, industries like Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals or Petrochemicals, achieved important developments thanks to systems indicated for reducing the temperature of their products or processes, or conserving them in optimal conditions to avoid safety issues.

What they actually do is remove heat out of a given area. All refrigeration systems work by transferring heat around, moving it from a designated area to somewhere else, thus cooling that designated area off and reversing the natural flow of heat with the application of energy. How this happens, however, varies among the four different types of refrigeration systems. While the four types of refrigeration systems have many similarities, they have just as many differences. The most widely used refrigeration cycle method is mechanical compression.

fundamentals of the subject, without involving the reader too deeply in theory. The main application for this cycle is the air-conditioning and pressurization of.

Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps, Fifth Edition, provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practice of refrigeration. Clear and comprehensive, it is suitable for both trainee and professional HVAC engineers, with a straightforward approach that also helps inexperienced readers gain a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of the technology. With its concise style and broad scope, the book covers most of the equipment and applications professionals will encounter.
